| Jacqueline Hankins, "The Hip Hop Agatha Christie" An accomplished orchestrator, music director, lyricist and composer, Jacqueline has composed a series of critically acclaimed folk operas she calls HIP HOP MUSICAL MYSTERIES. A MURDER AT THE CHURCH, produced June 2002, was the first. COOKING THE BOOKS: A RECIPE FOR MURDER, her second, produced at the Playwright Tavern & Restaurant, Manhattan, February 2004, also critically acclaimed, ran for nearly one year. A WEAPON MOST UNUSUAL, her third, opened January 30th, 2005 to wonderful reviews. In 2007, A MURDER AT THE CHURCH was a finalist in New York's "Strawberry Theater Festival". Jacqueline Hankins was honored at New York's "2007 Potpourri Theater Festival" for "Outstanding Black Women Playwrights". The worldwide opportunities offered by the independent film industry, lured her into Filmmaking. In 2006, A WEAPON MOST UNUSUAL won 2006 Best Musical Film Short two times (the Spring and Fall Festivals) at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival. In 2008, she signed her first 3-year distribution contract with Ouat Media, Inc. Two of her Hip Hop Musical Mysteries, COOKING THE BOOKS: A RECIPE FOR MURDER AND A WEAPON MOST UNUSUAL will be shown on Movieola-The Short Film Channel. Jacqueline has enjoyed a 30-year career in which she toured the USA, Europe, the Caribbean and performed in Kenya, Iceland, and Russia. In addition to being a much sought-after pianist, singer, actress and singer-dancer, two critically acclaimed albums, “Christmas Joy!” and “Let’s Dance to Blues, Swing and Latin Music” were released in Europe under the TopSound label.
