AMERICA OGGI
Saturdays and Sundays, at 2:30pm, you may have a lunch at Playwright Tavern (732 Eighth
Avenue) along with  spectacular musical theater.  Actress, writer, singer, producer
Jacqueline Hankins is energetic, engaged and convincing.  In her "Cooking The Books:  A
Recipe For Murder", she shows a fanatical financier who, in order to conceal his corruption
and avoid prison, kills or collaborates with a killer and possible enemy.  Harold (Angel
Martinez) screams his anger at a system that blocks his plans to become a millionaire.
Using special film clips, one views scenes in prison and the park.  Leroy Hankins is the killer.
Mykeko E. Bryant is the first victim.  Several more die.  Triumphant at the end is the
beautiful Jacqueline who inherits everything.  Bravos also to Ann Estill, Stephen Robinson,
Anna Hill, Erika Staples and Loretta Poole, the desperate mother (in the film).  Good food,
good lyrics, good voices: Entertaining.
